“familiarity breeds contempt”
Bible stories and lessons can become familiar in such a way that we miss some of the fresh impact.
Psalm 23
Comforting in the very worst time(s).
Read Psalm 23 also when you’re not in a disaster, and let familiarity breed inspiration to walk close to The Shepherd.
Psalm 51
Take time to deal with sin‐‐‐we must not get so familiar that we miss the gravity of sin.
Pleas of repentance:
‐‐‐reality, truth,
—broken, desperate, restored,
—clean, right, free, forgiven.
Then,
It’s not a one-time deal—because we fall again, we sin again.
Read Psalm 51 also when you’re not in a disaster, and let familiarity breed inspiration and conviction to walk close with His Spirit.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a Right Spirit within me.
Cast me not away from Your Presence; and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of Your Salvation; and uphold me with Your Free Spirit.”
